As an initiative driven by SNA Toronto, as facilitators, we are currently forming a 'Collective' (The JUS Talk Collective) of partners including universities, government agencies, social organizations, professional firms and businesses to partner in this seminar on 'social justice'.
We see social justice as a ubiquitous virtue that touches all aspects of empirical life from business to government, academia, social groups, and industry. One purpose of this seminar is—to build a conversation (on social justice issues) among these disparate institutions, by inviting speakers from each. Our conference theme is Social Justice, Globalization, and Enabling Technology. The venue will be the New Student Centre, York University, in Toronto area in Canada.
This seminar is inspired by historic social reform movements and current socio-political initiatives. We draw our theme starting from the intellectual and numinous social reform movement inspired by poet-sage Sree Narayana Guru (1856-1928) in British India to the contemporary democratic operation of the North American and other global social justice systems, that continuously engage in debate and bilaterally enact legislation to address issues of social inequality.
